Viva ABBA ! U.K. top40 * Waterloo*
The following U.K. chart has become some kind of a collector`s item as it definitely put an end to decades of ABBA-free hit-parades. As from next week it will bear a brand new complexion what with the Arrival of the band`s very first entry. Which spot will they reach first? Somewhere in the top ten no doubt perhaps even directly at number one!

Now then now then as it happens fourth week at the top for T.J.. Better luck next time for the ABBA sisters unless they get stuck at n°2 as was the case for them in the Netherlands because of a few Cats getting in the way.
While we`re on the sobject I`d like to seize the opportunity while SITS is still on top to pay a wee tribute to late Belgian singer Jacques Brel who incidentally wrote the original back in 1967 ("Le moribond"), which was first covered by Rod Mac Cuen. As it happens we`re currently celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of his disappearance this very month. Onkol Ted tells me other songs of his had been covered abroad: "Amsterdam" by David Bowie and "Jackie" by Scott Walker. The follow-up to SITS by T.J. was also a Jacques Brel song of 1964 ("If you go away").
I`m not going away just yet.
Back to this week`s chart: this week the cat is creeping down in Britain while they`re zooming up in Holland :-). Paper Lace are still lingering on after 9 solid weeks in the top20. Their follow-up "The night Chicago died" only made n°3 in the U.K. but, unlike BDBAH which didn`t do anything across the water it became a hit worldwide (says Onkol Ted).
Just for the record I once met Mungo Jerry`s sister on the way to church: she`s got long legs alright.![[:o)]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/15.gif)
To end on a more cheerful note: yes, Stevie, I know the feeling, there are quite a few of them around. But let`s not forget: we are all humble Wombles! ![[:o)]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/15.gif)
Well howzabout that, doesn`t time fly, we`re already in May!
Sweden one thousand points/La Suède mille points!
That finishes the votes of the Haitian jury

Doesn`t Sunny`s progress in the chart remind you of the hectic pace of a Derrick episode?
Well it does me and all (as it happens). ![[:o)]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/15.gif)
Last but not least in those days a U.K. chart was not really complete without the BCR. Welcome to the boys then.
Happy May day to all from Onkol Ted and me.

WHOOOPs now
What a sensation
Quick`s the word, sharp`s the motion. State-of-the-art newfangled brand new squealing group the Rubettes just zooms out of nowhere directley up to nomber two, becoming the first ever threat to our fave rave four letter band. Now then now then (as it happens). Will the ABBAs be able to remain on top next week (I personalley wouldn`t pin too many hopes on that
) or will they have to be content with just two miserable weeks?
Jost WATCH THIS SPACE and see how it goes. In the meantime, fingers and toes crossed.
A little riddle now for all our clever clogs out there. Here goes: what`s the common link between n°4 and n°10 in this week`s classementation? Now then now then (as it happens) thinking caps on everyone
That one had incidentalley been suggested to me by our very own Onkol Ted.
Now howzabout two (for the prize of one) of mine now: A] What`s the common link between n°6 and n°9 in this week`s line-up?
B] Last but not least what`s the difference between n°11 and n°13 in this week`s list?
Anticipated regards to all winners. Unfortunately the winners take nought in this non-competition. ![[;(]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/18.gif)

WHOOPS! ABBAleon did surrender this week. But as usual they feel like they win when they lose, which instantly brings solace to our hearts. ![[:D]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/4.gif)
On other topics: Did you know that this week`s n°3 song had been massively covered all over Europe and even in Freedom Fries land by Playmobil girl Mireille Mathieu
who once duetted with Atlandic lad Patrick "Bobby" Duffy? I bet you didn`t. ![[8D]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/3.gif)
Now then, this week`s little riddle (as it happens): what`s the common link between n°3 and n°20 in the present listing? Good luck to all
Also this week aptly named Charlie Rich is back with a vengence. He certainly didn`t stay away too long, did he? He`s now taken the most beautiful (actually far from homely) longlegged girl dressed in red behind closed doors. It`s alright for some hey?
I do wonder what they`re up to. ![[:o]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/11.gif)
And finally today`s vital question is: Does any of you know how it feels to shang a lang? Personally I`ve only banged a boomerang so far. ![[:o)]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/15.gif)

The all teeth out Mormonds are still going up the chart with already their fourth top 20 hit (and still counting).
In a quite different genre we welcome two Eurocontest leftovers this week. First and not least there`s wee Italian second -time-around famous pizza lass Gigliola Cinquetti whose eurosong "Si" had quite interestingly been translated "Go". "How come?" you may ask.
Well, rumour has it that the idea for the English version came up as she was prevented from becoming a Johnny Logan female counterpart (that is to say winning the Grand Prix twice) by the newly-called ABBA. Having to be content with second position she is said to have turned to the confetti-covered foursome and wombled out: "Go!", thus expressing her wish to see them vanish out of sight. Unruffled by this unexpected outburst the winning siblings just replied by singing: "What`s a matter you, gotta no respect, why you looka so sad? It`s a not so bad Ah shaddap-a you face!"
Unless I and Onkol Ted are grossly mistaken the lady however remains the youngest ever Eurowinner of all times if you disregard Belgian lass Sandra Kim.
Second and last Europarticipants to enter the top 20 this week are duetting double Dutch duo Big Mouth and Maggie MacNeal who, if my memory serves me right, finished at nomber three in the contest with their rather catchy tune "Ik zie een ster" which, faithfully translated, would come down to "I see a star" (how cunning!)
Onkol Ted tells me that, unlike Gigliola, the hairy twosome were quite pleased with the ABBA victory and thought of rebaptising their song "I see four stars", only the 45 had already been wrapped up and ready for sale.
Willem Duyn and Sjoukje van`t Spijker (quite a mouthful...and MacNeal]) as their real names go had already been in the U.S. top 10 with "How do you do? (a-ha)" They had no less than two nomber ones in Holland in 1971/72 as well as a string of top ten entries. Unfortunately they split at the end of 1974.
Loud-mouthed Willem and his biological wife then went on to form the duet Big Mouth and Little Eve and had two minor hits at home in 1975-76 (one of them being a small tribute to our dearest Onkol Ted) while Maggie McNeal represented her country again at the Euro thing in 1980 with the rather predictable tune "Amsterdam" which proved a lousy flop and eventually finished her career altogether. The two biggest solo hits of hers are "Terug naar de kust" in 1976 and "When you`re gone" released in 1975.
Mind you, Mouth and MacNeal won`t be the last Dutch act to make the U.K. top 20 as the very unique Shocking Blue had been paving the way for the celebritous Golden Earring, George Baker Selection, Teach-in, Pussycat, Vader Abraham and his gang of wombling smurfs, the Art Company, Elvis fan Danny Mirror and half-duet Yvonne Keely-Paay.
And so now to finish on a cheerful note: one more cornetto for Mamma!
What` s a matter you?
Gotta no respect?
Why you looka so sad?
It`s a not so bad
Ah! Shaddap-a you face! ![[:o)]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/15.gif)

Well, now then now then looks like it`s ABBA`s last week in the top twenty this week. Actually this is their last top twenty appearance for this year (as it happens). Indeed, the next two follow-ups will respectively reach n° 32 and n° 38. Quite logically then, today`s question is: what(on earth) are those "not so successful songs?"
P.S.: I`m scared of spiders and snakes and I`m afraid of ghosts
. I do like Wombles though. ![[:D]](http://images.programme-tv.net/img/forum/sm1/4.gif)
La chanson "Ring ring" n'atteignait que la 32ème place, "So Long" n'est pas apparu dans les hit parades, 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do' n'était que 38ème. - 'Mamma Mia', 'Fernando' and 'Dancing Queen'.
'Knowing Me, Knowing You' & 'The Name Of The Game ' deviennent n°1 au hit parade anglais.
'Take A Chance On Me' et le 33t.
'Chiquitita' (qui fut donnée à l'UNICEF en 79 année internationale de l'Enfant), 'Does Your Mother Know ?'
